The science of the stomata of plants: a continuously growing list of references, abstracts and illustrations, helping researchers to data on publications.
With our sincere thanks to Prof. Daniel Olorunfemi, University of Benin, Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, for his valuable contribution to our Plant Stomata Encyclopedia.
Mature structure of stomata and their ontogeny in the leaves of Boerhavia erecta Burm.f., B. diffusa L. and B. coccinea Mill. have been studied.
The epidermal cells are sinuously walled on the upper surface and irregular on the lower in two of the taxa, except B. coccinea which is straight walled.
The leaves are amphistomatic but the number of stomata on the adaxial surface is much lower than abaxial surface. Stomata are of the anomocytic type with eumesogeous ontogenetic development.
